Friends, the countdown is on. At the end of October I will step onto the Miss American Sisterhood stage, and I want to tell you why I am doing this — because it is not what some people think.
I am not doing this for vanity. I do not need a mirror or a stage to tell me I am beautiful. I am not doing this for recognition. I am already recognized by God — He knew me, He formed me, and He calls me His. And I am not doing this for self-worth. My worth was settled long before any crown. I know who I am in Him.
I am doing this because of a promise I made to myself: to represent beauty the way God defines it, and to empower women to see themselves the way He sees them.
Beauty is not something you earn. You do not achieve it, you do not buy it, and you do not lose it when life gets hard. Beauty is given — a gift from God, given at birth. And because God gave it, nothing can take it away. Not what the world throws at you. Not what the enemy throws at you. Nothing can change the beauty God made.
I have walked through seasons that tried to tell me otherwise. Cancer tried to rename me. Loss tried to rename me. But I stand here as proof: what God creates, nothing can unmake.
That is why I compete. That is why I am counting down to the crown. Not for a title — for every woman who needs to hear that she is already beautiful, already worthy, already loved. Come with me on this journey. The best is yet to come.
I love you all.
Ruth
